Pat & Mandy Retzlaff have been running Mozambique Horse Safari in Vilankulo since 2006. They have been married for over thirty years and have three three children; Paul, Jonathan & Kate. Pat & Mandy spent 25 years farming commercially in Zimbabwe before moving to Mozambique after political trouble forced them to move.



Pat was born in Arusha, Tanzania, grew up on a farm in Zimbabwe and studied Animal Science at University of Natal, South Africa. For over 25 years he was a commercial farmer, award winning sheep and cattle breeder, and leading agronomist in Zimbabwe  He is is passionate about horses, our leading guide and has a vast knowledge of the flora, fauna and history of the Vilanculos region.  Pat provides the majority of the veterinary care required as well as all the farrier work at Mozambique Horse Safari.

Mandy is Mozambique Horse Safari's lead guide, programme facilitator, marketing manager and is in charge of all of the day-to-day running of our team. She is absolutely charming, has a wonderful sense of humour and keeps the clients and volunteers in high spirits.
